Oberwart is a town in Burgenland, Austria. It is a district suburb (Burgenland term for district capital) of the district of Oberwart. The town is mainly known as a market and school town. The town is located in southern Burgenland on the Pinka River in the wide Pinka Valley.
Culture and sights
Today, the former Oberwart Synagogue, which houses a music school, the former Rabbinate House and the Oberwart Jewish Cemetery, which has largely been preserved in its original state, are reminders of the Jewish community. All three objects are listed as historical monuments. Oberwart commemorates the many victims of National Socialism in the town with a memorial in the town park.

The Offenes Haus Oberwart (OHO) art and culture center hosts, among other things, regular exhibitions of visual artists, music and theater events, readings and annual festivals such as the "Burgenland Dance Days."
